COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Arts Festival, presented by the American Electric Power Foundation and produced by the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC), will again host a fashion show organized by local designer, fiber artist and GCAC board member Celeste Malvar-Stewart on the Genoa Park Main Stage on Friday, June 7 at 8 p.m.
Fashion as Art is a runway show featuring four Columbus-based designers who will each show eight looks on models on the runway. In exploring fashion as art, the designers will be showcasing unique and avant-garde pieces that demonstrate high-end couture that expresses artistry in fashion. The runway show will also feature music from Columbus-based artist DJ Pastel.
The fashion artists represent a mixture of established and up-and-coming designers (in order of presentation):
- Tracy Powell
- Chawis Saelim
- Dominic Ciucci
- Casey Immel-Brown
“After debuting one of the most popular and widely attended runway shows last year, I’m thrilled that we’ll be showcasing Fashion as Art once again at this year’s Columbus Arts Festival,” said Malvar-Stewart. “This year’s event is sure to be another showstopper as we highlight four of Columbus’ greatest new fashion talents whose diverse, high-end collections reveal the amazing and important intersection between fashion and art.”
“Last year we had such a wonderful response from audience members and artists seeing fashion at the Columbus Arts Festival,” says Festival Director Alexis Perrone. “Fashion deserves a place amongst the visual artists, musicians and other performers at the Festival, and we’re excited to again feature Columbus-based designers, DJs and models on one of our main stages.”
As with all performances at the Columbus Arts Festival, the Fashion as Art runway show is free to attend.
Festival Hours: Friday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Please note: on Friday and Saturday artist booths close at 9 p.m.; artists have the option to stay open later.)
