COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Arts Festival, produced by the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) and presented by the American Electric Power Foundation, is looking for energetic, fun-loving individuals to join their corps of volunteers for the Festival, June 9-11 on the downtown riverfront.
The Columbus Arts Festival kicks off summer with a weekend event including more than 225 artists selling work; three stages featuring performances in music, theater, dance and spoken word; a mini film festival; more than 40 food and drink vendors; and hands-on art activities and demonstrations.
In order to create this spectacular event for more than 450,000 people, GCAC recruits hundreds of volunteers to join their team.
Volunteers, sponsored by Bank of America, do everything from help with the hands-on art activities, to staffing artists’ booths while they take a short break, to being a stagehand. With a commitment of just a few hours, volunteers can be part of the annual event, and will receive a T-shirt, snacks and bottled water. New this year, volunteers can also support the artists creating murals as part of the mini Scrawl live painting event, Scribble, over the Festival weekend.
Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older, and those ages 12-16 must participate with an adult during their shift. Volunteers who monitor artist booths must be 16 or older. Volunteers for beverage booths must be 21 or older.
Visit the Columbus Arts Festival website to see a full list of volunteer opportunities and apply to join the festival team: columbusartsfestival.org/engage/volunteer/.
Festival Hours: Friday, June 9 from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Please note: on Friday and Saturday artist booths close at 9 p.m.; artists have the option to stay open later.)
