COLUMBUS, Ohio—The nationally acclaimed Columbus Arts Festival is now accepting street painter applications online. The 55th annual festival will take place June 10, 11 & 12, 2016 along the Columbus downtown riverfront.
Italian Street Painting is an engaging art form featuring reproductions and adaptations of famous paintings and unique original work done in chalk on pavement by local artists. Artists create temporary works of art along one of the Festival’s streets. At the end of the Festival prizes are awarded to the artists based on votes from a review jury of community members.
With the application, a sketch of the work planned to present at the Festival, as well as an image of a prior work of chalk painting is required. The selection will be based on the images of work submitted.
The street painting must be completed by the evening of June 11. All works will be reviewed by a jury on Sunday, June 12, and the winners will be awarded cash prizes.
