COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) is excited to welcome Alexis Perrone as the new director of the Columbus Arts Festival. Perrone (she/her) will assume the role at the end of January, taking over from previous director Sean Kessler, who recently departed to become executive director of the German Village Society.
Perrone most recently served as assistant director of community engagement at WOSU Public Media, developing and implementing dozens of events in the organization’s new building in the University District. Prior to her time at WOSU, Perrone worked as a development manager for the Parkinson’s Foundation’s Great Lakes Chapter, a senior visitor experience manager at Experience Columbus and a lifestyle coordinator for Edwards Urban Communities.
“We’re very excited to welcome Alexis to lead the Columbus Arts Festival,” said Tom Katzenmeyer, president and CEO of GCAC. “She brings a wealth of experience working with multiple organizations, particularly in community event production. We know that she’ll provide valuable leadership for the Festival team as we head into another strong year.”
“I am so excited to join the Greater Columbus Arts Council team,” said Perrone. “It is a dream come true to work with the dedicated volunteers, staff, artists and performers that make this festival happen. I am looking forward to being a part of this team that brings the festival to life and ushers summer into our city.”
Produced by GCAC, the Columbus Arts Festival takes place June 9-11, 2023 on Columbus’ downtown riverfront. Each year, the Festival serves as the city’s welcome-to-summer event, with more than 200 exhibiting artists, multiple performance stages, kid’s activities, live art demonstrations, food trucks, beverage stations and more.
