Columbus, Ohio – The winners of the 2010 Emerging Artist program will be participating in this year’s Columbus Arts Festival presented by Time Warner Cable; they will be exhibiting and selling their work June 3, 4, and 5 in the Discovery District.
The Emerging Artist program is for artists who have no or limited experience exhibiting at national festivals. In order to be eligible, artists must be residents of Franklin or surrounding counties.
“It is exciting to have so many wonderful artists return, but there will be a lot of new faces as well,” said Leah Alters, Festival Director. “Through the Emerging Artist program we are able to help local artists promote their work.”
Ten Columbus-area artists are part of the emerging artist program at this year’s Columbus Arts Festival. A few of these local artists include: Angela Sample (Ceramics), Amanda Rife (Photography), Chelstin Ross (Painting), Courtney Yoakum (Jewelry), Kirill Novikov (Painting), Lindsay Rodgers (Photography), Meghan Sours (Painting), Paul Tepper (Painting), Pepper Johnson (Fiber) and Vincent Nobel (Photography). For artists’ booth numbers, please see the full listing on the Columbus Arts Festival Web site, ColumbusArtsFestival.org.
Approximately 240 artists were selected from nearly 1,100 applicants by a panel of experts through a blind jury process. To apply, artists e-mailed digital images of their artwork and booth set-up through ZAPPlicationTM, an electronic application process. A jury of art experts reviewed the entries, identified only by number, and selected the work based on merit and quality.
