COLUMBUS, Ohio – Applications for poets and authors are now available for the 2015 Columbus Arts Festival.  The Columbus Arts Festival will celebrate its 54th year of bringing the best in fine art and fine craft to Columbus June 12, 13 & 14, 2015. Located along the Scioto Mile at the Downtown Riverfront, the Festival area encompasses Bicentennial Park and the Main and Rich Street bridges. Approximately 450,000 arts enthusiasts and food lovers attend each year.

Columbus has some of the most talented spoken word and literary artists in the country and the Columbus Arts Festival features the best of the best each year.  Poets and authors chosen through an audition process will have an exciting opportunity to share their work at scheduled times on Friday through Sunday of the festival on the Word is Art stage—a location dedicated to spoken word performance and author readings.

For poet application and specifics regarding participation, go to http://columbusartsfestival.org/application/poets/signup.  Each applicant is required to submit two (2) poems with the application.  A panel of judges will review the written work, from which they will select poets to audition.

Poetry application deadline is January 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Applicants will be notified by the end of February as to whether they are chosen to audition.  Poet auditions will be held in March.

Authors of published or non-published fiction or nonfiction are also eligible to read their work at the Festival’s Word is Art stage.

For author application and specifics regarding participation, go to http://columbusartsfestival.org/application/authors/signup .  To be considered, authors must submit a 300-word selection of work (a stand-alone piece or an excerpt).  A panel of judges will review the written work, from which they will select authors to audition.

Author application deadline is January 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
