COLUMBUS, Ohio – The nationally acclaimed Columbus Arts Festival is now accepting poet and author applications. The 56th annual Festival will take place June 9, 10 and 11, 2017 along the Columbus downtown riverfront.

Columbus has some of the most talented spoken word and literary artists in the country and the Columbus Arts Festival features the best of the best each year.  Poets and authors chosen through an audition process will have an exciting opportunity to share their work at scheduled times on Friday through Sunday of the festival on the Word is Art stage—a location dedicated to spoken word performance and author readings.

For poet application and specifics regarding participation, visit www.columbusartsfestival.org/application/poets/signup. Each applicant is required to submit two (2) poems with the application. A panel of judges will review the written work, from which they will select poets to audition.

Poetry application deadline is Feb. 24, 2017.

Applicants will be notified in February if they are chosen to audition. Poet auditions will be held in February.

Authors of published or non-published fiction or nonfiction are also eligible to read their work at the Festival’s Word is Art stage.

For author application and specifics regarding participation, visit www.columbusartsfestival.org/application/authors/signup. To be considered, authors must submit a 300-word selection of work (a stand-alone piece or an excerpt). A panel of judges will review the written work, from which they will select authors to audition.

Author application deadline is Feb. 24, 2017.

Applicants will be notified by the end of February if they are chosen to audition.  Auditions for authors will be held in March.

For questions about applications, contact Festival Manager Sean Kessler at skessler@gcac.org or Festival Coordinator Kez Hall at khall@gcac.org.
