2012 Columbus Arts Festival Beverage Server Organizations
The Columbus Arts Festival Beverage Volunteer Program allows non-profits to showcase their organization at one of our six beverage locations and earn money to enhance their programs. The below organizations are serving beverages at the 2012 Columbus Arts Festival. Their beverage station location/s and times are noted in bold at the end of their description. Use the Festival map to find their locations on site.

The Columbus Alumnae Panhellenic
The Columbus Alumnae Panhellenic is the governing body of all sorority alumnae groups in the Columbus Area. We meet several times throughout the year to volunteer at various philanthropies, discuss business as needed, and socialize. We annually award scholarships to local collegiate sorority women and the money earned at the Arts Festival will be used toward this cause. The Columbus Alumni Panhellenic beverage station is at Main & S. Civic from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday.
Columbus Kappa Foundation
The Columbus Kappa Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Columbus (OH) Alumni Chapter and became federally designated as a non-profit, tax-exempt, publicly supported organization. The purpose of the foundation is: To engage in community rehabilitation with an emphasis on the King-Lincoln district; To serve people and provide a better quality of life for all through education, redevelopment and service; To provide young persons, academically oriented services such as mentoring, career exposure and financial assistance to schools of higher learning in the form of scholarship. The vehicle to achieve this goal resulted in the development of the Columbus Kappa Scholarship. The beverage station is at Main & Washington from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday.
Columbus Weightlifters
Columbus Weightlifters is a non-profit that promotes the sport of Olympic Style Lifting. In addition to working with athletes, we also conduct the Arnold Weightlifting Championships. This competition is held during the Arnold Sports Festival and is one of the most popular meets for the United States. Our athletes range from new lifters to Olympians. The Columbus Weightlifters’ serving beverage station is at Main & Second from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. They will also be serving the Genoa Park beverage station during WaterFire Saturday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Friends of Doo Dah
The Friends of Doo Dah produces the Annual Doo Dah Parade, which is a cultural legacy of the Columbus, Ohio - Short North Arts District, known for its diversity and passion of art. Vibrant people march and express their unique humorous thoughts about social, political, civic or other issues. Nothing or no one is safe from satire! The 2012 Doo Dah Parade is funded by charitable donations from Doo Dah’s Friends & Lovers, GCAC and the Chase 200Columbus Neighborhood Grant Program, along with the sale of coveted Doo Dah T-shirts. In addition, the parade would not be possible without the DisOrganizers, the volunteers, the Media and Social Butterflies. No other major U.S. city has a 4th of July parade quite like the Doo Dah Parade. The Doo Dah parade is FREE to march in or to watch and no registration is required! The day is complete with an all day FREE entry to the block party with FREE live music. The 29th Annual Doo Dah Parade will once again celebrate liberty & lunacy on the July 4th, 2012. Occupy It! The beverage station for Friends of Doo Dah is at Rich & Civic Center from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday.
Heritage Day Health Centers
When given the choice, it is the overwhelming preference of seniors to remain in their own homes and age with independence and dignity as part of their community. Heritage has been providing quality adult day care and serving central Ohio for over 28 years! Adult day care services provide an opportunity for individuals to age in place. Now with six centers in central and southern Ohio, Heritage Day Health Centers offers the frail elderly and their caregivers an affordable alternative to isolation and premature nursing home placement. Our adult day care program offers clients a structured day that includes: mental and physical stimulation, medical monitoring, nutritious meals, assistance with activities of daily living (including bathing), and transportation to and from the client’s home. Heritage provides its client caregivers respite and peace of mind. Heritage Day Health Centers’ beverage station is at Main & Washington from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Homeport
In the belief that a decent and affordable home is the cornerstone of family life and a healthy community, Homeport, through its programs, provides quality, affordable homes and services to low and moderate income households in Central Ohio. Through its activities, Homeport is a partner in building vibrant communities and enhancing the lives of its residents. Homeport’s beverage station is at Rich & Washington from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
P.E.O.
P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College, and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. Their beverage stations are at Main & Second from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday and at Main & Washington and Rich & Washington from 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Schumacher Place Civic Association
The Schumacher Place Civic Association (SPCA), formed in 1983, is proud of the area’s history as a gateway to the Southside and of the contributions of past and present residents to the greater Columbus community. In the 1800s, the area was Max Schumacher’s dairy farm and pasture land as well as the location for the first OSU football game. Today, it consists mostly of over 700 homes, most of which were built from the 1890s to the 1920s and receive a lot of TLC from owners. Close to downtown, just east of German Village, it is an affordable, desirable and thriving urban neighborhood. Residents, local businesses, and friends create and enjoy an annual garden and arts tour, monthly social get-togethers, neighborhood cleanups, and charitable events. Together, we seek to maintain and enhance the character of our neighborhood while supporting innovative development and civic involvement by each and every person within the area. The Schumacher Place Civic Association’s beverage station is at Main & Washington from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Singing Buckeyes
The Singing Buckeyes are a 62 year old Central Ohio male vocal performance organization singing music in a cappella barbershop harmony style. The sixty singer chorus has performed across Ohio and the country, including it's 1999 performances in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the first Russian Barbershop Harmony Festival. It has won the District Chorus Championship 11 times for Ohio, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. The Singing Buckeyes produce three local shows each year, the next one being the Stars of the Night Show at Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, August 4. The membership is open to any men who like to sing, regardless of initial skill level and the Singing Buckeyes welcome visitors to their weekly meetings at 7:00 pm on Tuesdays at Mountview Baptist Church in Upper Arlington." Their beverage station will be at Town & Civic Center from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday.
St. Paul Players Drama Ministry of St. Paul A.M.E. Church
In 2001, the St. Paul Players Drama Ministry of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Dr. Michael Bean, had a vision to present a live outdoor nativity to those in our community. It quickly became clear that we had to do more. We invite people that are homeless, marginally housed, those struggling with addictions and senior citizens to spend the first 3 Saturday’s in December with us. We provide transportation and we serve a hot meal, give away gently used clothes and new toiletries. In the past 10 years we have served close to 8000 people. Their beverage stations will be at Town & Civic Center from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday and 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Strategies Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE)
SAVE was founded in 1994 by a collaborative group of community leaders who wanted to create an organization in central Ohio to focus on the issue of youth violence. SAVE's first program started in 1995 and targeted parents, teaching them how to develop their children’s critical thinking skills concerning media violence. SAVE honors youth peacemakers in central Ohio with the SAVE Awards Youth Peacemakers Training Program and provides workshops for youth to develop their media literacy skills and Internet/technology safety through the Media Violence Education Project. The SAVE Students Network program began, SAVESNet, is currently in three Columbus City high schools and seeks to increase the knowledge, life skills, positive attitude for empowering behaviors. Their beverage station will be at Rich and Washington from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday.
Thiossane
Welcome.html West African Dance Founded in November 2000, Thiossane (pronounced cha- sahn) was formed for the purpose of bringing authentic West African culture representation to a variety of communities locally, nationally and internationally. Thiossane introduces the richness of the culture through dance and music to provide and create a space to learn and grow in traditional African culture. The company is available for professional presentations, lectures, demonstrations, dance and drum workshops, educational programming, community collaborations and university enrichment and consulting. Thiossane’s beverage station will be at Rich & Washington from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The University & Northwest Sertoma Club
Founded in 1970, The University & Northwest Sertoma Club has served the charitable needs of the Columbus community with benevolent financial support and thousands of hours of service to dozens of community organizations. Their beverage station is at Rich & Washington from 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday and at Rich & Civic Center from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Vassor Village
Vassor Village Civic Association is a South Columbus neighborhood association established in 2002. Building a stronger sense of community is a primary goal of our civic association. In 2011, the Vassor Village Civic Association sponsored a very successful garden tour as well as a Haunted Mansion during Halloween. Neighborhood clean-ups, a quarterly newsletter, a block watch program and addid community garden are additional projects that occur throughout the year. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at the Lincoln Park Elementary School library, 579 East Markinson Avenue. Vassor Village’s beverage stations are at Main & Civic Center from 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday.
